Caught 'e' a mermaid

Caught 'e' a mermaid
To make up for the pitiful last post here is a work in progress.

I am trying to sort out a series of seaside postcards (being that I live by the seaside, it seemed a good place to start), both as promo and to sell in shops. Here is the first. I think it will change as I render it in, my self promotional work always does. so it will be interesting to compare this with how it turns out.

Real paint! (or not)

Every now and then I have then need to create something with 'traditional' materials rather than my computer, most of the time, I manage to bury the urge and ignore it, but today I am going to give in. I have me a peice of perspex, some paint and a print out of what I intended to create - well I couldn't very well give up using the computer cold turkey could I?

Sun is shinning the audio books are ready - Updates thoughout the day...

Update: Now I remember why I stopped painting - I am impatient, generally get messy and break things: Just lent on the perspex I was using and it is now in pieces... hmmm we shall never speak of this...

If nothing else it has reminded me how good computers really are.

Update 2: Wil from Dinkybox mention in a comment below (obviously missing the never speaking again comment I made!) that I should post the image I tried to paint and pass it off as fine art. There really isn't anything to see but this is the basis for what it should have been, hopefully the bright colours should through Wil off the scent and keep the hounds at bay...

After Hours

Just got back from giving a talk for the After Hours Program run by Creative Alliance in Birmingham, along with Matt from Clusta - who did the other half of the talk from an agencies perspective. I was there to give prospective illustrators a taste of what it's like being an illustrator. I am pretty pleased with how it went and hope it was entertaining and useful, though looking at the standard of work I am going to have to 'up my game', they were, without exception, all very accomplished and no doubt will be snapping up jobs a plenty very soon...

It was nice visiting one of my old stomping grounds and whilst up there I met up with Dom from TAK! (who I originally met though a sticker I made and left in Amsterdam, when Dom was running Stickernation but that another story...)

Thanks to Lara and Nicola for inviting me up.
